Increased police presence is mandated from recent changes in university policy requiring large events to be registered in advance. The police presence is not in response to an active threat. If any issues arise, please contact the organizers to speak with the police or other authorities.
Discord Etiquette
- Don’t message directors personally on Discord, unless it is urgent/incident-related!
- Post questions in #event-support to get them answered by any available online director
- Treat others the way you want to be treated
- No toxic or hateful messages will be allowed on Discord. Be kind to others and respect everyone.
- Anyone who’s found breaking our Code of Conduct / Discord rules will be kicked from Discord and disqualified from the hackathon.
- Use the Search Bar
- A lot of the questions you may ask have probably been asked by hackers already
- Search our #event-support channel to see if your question has already been answered.
Video Conferencing Etiquette
- Please be respectful of our workshop/tech talk/panel hosts as well.
- Hackers will be muted upon entry if applicable, and hosts will have the power to unmute select individuals when appropriate.
- You may not record the workshops/tech talks/panels yourselves; we will provide recordings after each event.
Code(s) of Conduct
At HackNC, it is a crucial aspect of our mission to embrace and promote inclusivity, accessibility, & ethicality. All participants are expected to respect both our and MLH’s Code of Conduct in order to facilitate a positive hackathon experience! Please help us out by notifying a director if you witness or experience violations of either Code of Conduct:
A violation of any code of conduct will result in a disqualification and immediate removal from the event and a permanent ban on all future events hosted by HackNC.
